The UMBC Alumni Association does its part to support and celebrate the accomplishments of UMBC’s more than 60,000 alumni in Maryland and worldwide, while helping alumni to create and maintain a lifelong connection to the University.
Additionally, through the UMBC Alumni Association Scholarship program, we also strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of deserving students to help them achieve their dream of receiving a degree from UMBC and join the many thousands of others as UMBC alumni. The UMBC Alumni Association is pleased to offer scholarships to outstanding current UMBC undergraduate students. Eligible students may apply for general and legacy scholarships in amounts up to $1,500. The scholarship program is administered by the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the governing body of the Alumni Association.

Other Scholarships Our Chapters Support:
Many prospective and current UMBC students struggle to find the
financial resources and community support they need to continue their
studies. In an effort to help and inspire current and future UMBC
students, our alumni groups and chapters have decided support the following scholarships:
- Second Generation Scholarship - A group of African-American alumni started the Second Generation
Scholarship in 1986 as a means to give back to the campus and become
more involved in UMBC. The scholarship provides funding to continuing
students whose money for college often decreases the longer they stay in
college and graduate. The first scholarship of $500 was awarded in 1987
and each year thereafter, the scholarship was awarded to two students
in the amount of $1,000 or $500 per semester.
- The Esperanza Scholarship - The Esperanza Endowment Fund was established by five
Latino members of the CBLA steering committee to support and inspire
current and future UMBC students of Latino or Hispanic ancestry and/or
students who are committed to the advancement of minorities especially
of Latino or Hispanic descent.
- Meyerhoff Alumni Scholarship - This fund is set up to provide scholarship support to current Meyerhoff students at UMBC. Join other graduates of the program and show your support for the current cohorts.
